I have korsakoff`s Psychosis
I have suffered with Korsakoff`s psychosis for around 9 years and I am very familiar with the symptoms of Korsakoff`s and how hard it is to perform even the simplest of tasks.
As an example,
I can’t untangle a ball of string .I tried day after day, year after year with cables that were tangled. I was trying to untangle them and I tried to do that for over 3 years, but I could not! It took a friend less than an hour. So frustrating and stressful frustration is different to frustrations most know. Korsakoff`s frustration is unbearable and cannot be described. I avoid that now, any task that my immediate memory doesn't allow me to do, I don't do it! I let someone else take care of it.
Poor memory must lead to losing things because you can’t remember where you put them or keep .It goes on all day every day you’re looking for things never find them !
Whilst it is true you don't know where you put things, for periods of time it’s common with Korsakoff`s that you don't recognize them.
I once lost an upright Hoover in a small room
I looked all day getting stressed and didn't find it. The room had a size of around 12 feet by 12 feet; it had two chairs and a sideboard in it how can you lose an upright Hoover in that room?
I did and could not find it even though I searched all day.
Things are different now
I still lose things all the time like before, but the difference is when I do, I don't look for them anymore.
I get on with something else, and I do not look under any circumstances, and since I started to do that, I have begun to find things in no time at all by "not looking" they just turn up.
Obviously not being stressed I quickly recognize what I'm looking for,
